Green Ember
Heather and Pickett are ordinary rabbits living quiet, predictable lives—until a sudden wolf attack shatters everything they’ve known. Forced into a dangerous and unfamiliar world, the young siblings are swept into an adventure that will test their courage, shape their identity, and reveal strengths they never knew they possessed.
Reading Audience:
I would say anyone who loves a good story can enjoy this. Reading-wise, probably seven or eight and up.
Stuff to be aware of:
Gore/Violence - There is some action and loss throughout the story, but nothing is described in a graphic or disturbing way. Here are a few moments parents may want to be aware of:
The main characters’ home is burned, and they are chased by wolves. There is also a suspenseful scene involving rats and bats.
Battle scenes do occur, with deceased warriors referred to as “fallen rabbits.” At one point, an injured character is described as a “pale, wounded soldier with a torn shoulder and a red gash,” though the description is brief and not overly detailed. One dead wolf is said to be, “lifeless.”

Overall
This series is a great choice for families and readers of all ages. While there is some mild fighting and a few character deaths, nothing is overly graphic. The only potentially intense element may be the wolves, who serve as the story’s primary villains. Throughout the series, biblical values and spiritual themes are thoughtfully woven into the characters and their journey. The writing is simple yet elegant, making it easy for younger readers to follow while still engaging for adults. It’s an excellent story to enjoy together as a family.
The story unfolds in a pretty straightforward way, with twists that will likely surprise kids, even if adults can spot some of them ahead of time. That said, one twist definitely caught me off guard. I really enjoyed it.
