“This is the way.”

Working exclusively for the New Republic, the Mandalorian and Grogu have become elite hunters of the galaxy’s worst criminals—tracking down gangsters, warlords, and Imperial remnants from Colonel Ward’s (Sigourney Weaver) ever-growing list of targets. But their latest mission pulls them into dangerous territory when Mando is forced to work with the Hutts to rescue Jabba the Hutt’s son in exchange for information on a mysterious war criminal secretly working to rebuild the Empire from the shadows.

With allies like Zeb from Star Wars Rebels and several familiar faces joining the fight, Mando finds himself surrounded by enemies on every side. As betrayals mount and the galaxy edges closer to chaos, one question becomes harder to answer: in a world ruled by secrets and shifting loyalties, can Mando trust anyone he meets?

Stuff to be aware of:‍ ‍Some of these items could be considered spoilers…..

‍ ‍Alcohol and Drugs - One character tells the other characters that he will buy them all drinks.

‍ ‍Gross - There is a wound seen twice that is bloody and looks pretty bad.

‍ ‍Scary - When characters are walking through a Hutt’s palace, the light is very dim, and Hutts can be seen doing things in various rooms. This could be a bit creepy or gross. There are multiple scenes with alien species that could be considered scary. Mando fights scary aliens in a pit fight, and in a water scene, things pop out of the water.

There are multiple jump scares, not scary in and of themselves, but they might make you jump.

‍ ‍Sexual - Nothing that I caught.

‍ ‍Violence/Gore - As with all Star Wars movies, multiple bad guys are shot and killed. Several bad guys get stabbed, but blood and gore are not seen. There is a man who falls off a cliff and hits a rock on the way down. A bird-like creature is shot and explodes into a flurry of feathers.

A character is electrified and faints. A character is seen on a torture table, but the torture is not seen. Two characters are swallowed whole by a large alien beast.

One character gets a pretty bad cut that is bloody. The cut is seen twice.

‍ ‍Other - None

Seeing It With Your Family

If you are planning to see this movie, chances are you and your family are already familiar with The Mandalorian on Disney+ and the larger Star Wars universe. In terms of intensity, the film stays very much in line with what viewers have already experienced in the series. While there are exciting action sequences and a few tense moments, nothing feels significantly darker or more intense than previous seasons. Younger viewers may find some of the alien creatures and monster encounters a little frightening, but overall, the movie maintains the adventurous, family-friendly spirit that has made The Mandalorian so popular.

What I Thought

‍ ‍The Mandalorian & Grogu ended up being exactly what I expected, and in this case, that is a good thing. Rather than trying to reinvent the series, the movie embraces what fans already love about The Mandalorian. It feels almost like two extended episodes of the show woven together into one cinematic story: the first half sets events in motion, while the second deals with the fallout and consequences that follow. The plot itself is fairly straightforward, and longtime moviegoers may not find any shocking twists, but the strength of the film lies in its execution, action, and the charm of its characters.

Visually, the movie is mostly impressive. Much of the CGI looks good, especially during the larger-scale action sequences, though there are a few moments (particularly involving the AT-ATs) where the effects look a little less polished. On the other hand, Zeb looks incredible, and the practical effects are some of the film’s biggest highlights. The puppetry, creature work, and touches of stop-motion-style animation capture the classic Star Wars spirit in a way that feels both nostalgic and exciting.

For longtime fans, the movie is packed with references, callbacks, and Easter eggs that reward deep knowledge of the franchise. At the same time, the story remains simple and accessible enough that casual viewers can still follow along and have a great time. In the end, The Mandalorian & Grogu delivered exactly the kind of adventure I expected and exactly the kind of Mando movie I wanted to see.
